Yalobusha County is a county in the US state of Mississippi . The county seats are Water Valley and Coffeeville . Yalobusha County is one of the ten counties in Mississippi that has two county administrations.

The county is located in north-central Mississippi and has an area of 1282 square kilometers, of which 72 square kilometers are water. It borders on the following counties:

history
Yalobusha County was formed on December 23, 1833 from parts of Choctaw land . It was named after the Yalobusha River that runs here .
Two places in the county are listed on the National Register of Historic Places as of February 3, 2018.

According to the 2000 census , Yalobusha County had 13,051 people in 5,260 households and 3,597 families. The population density was 11 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 60.46 percent white, 38.66 percent African American, 0.21 percent Native American, 0.08 percent Asian, 0.08 percent of residents from the Pacific island area and 0.09 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 0.41 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any of the above mentioned groups were 0.97 percent of the population.
Of the 5,260 households, 29.7 percent had children under the age of 18 living with them. 46.6 percent were married couples living together, 17.6 percent were single mothers, and 31.6 percent were non-families. 28.7 percent of all households were single households and 14.0 percent had people aged 65 or over. The average household size was 2.46 and the average family size was 3.02.
25.6 percent of the population was under 18 years old, 8.9 percent between 18 and 24, 26.1 percent between 25 and 44, 23.8 percent between 45 and 64 years old, and 15.7 percent were 65 years or older . The median age was 38 years. Statistically, for every 100 females there were 91.3 males and for every 100 females aged 18 or over there were 86.2 males.
The average income of a household amounted to 26,315 USD , for a family is 31,801 USD. Males had a median income of $ 27,009 versus $ 20,236 for females. The per capita income was $ 14,953. About 19.5 percent of families and 21.8 percent of the population were below the poverty line.
