The county seats are Houston and Okolona . The Chickasaw County is one of the ten counties in Mississippi that have two county administrations.

The county is located in northeastern Mississippi and has an area of 1,306 square kilometers, of which seven square kilometers are water. Chickasaw County was formed on February 9, 1836 from parts of Choctaw Land . It was named after the Chickasaw , a North American Indian people .
