The Carroll County is a county in the US state of Mississippi . The county seats are Carrollton and Vaiden . This makes Carroll County one of the ten counties in Mississippi that have two county administrations.

history

Charles Carroll

Carroll County was formed on December 23, 1833 from parts of Choctaw Land . It was named, like the district capital, after Charles Carroll , a signatory to the United States' Declaration of Independence .

Ten structures and sites in the county are on the National Register of Historic Places (as of February 1, 2018).

As of the 2000 census , Carroll County had 10,769 people in 4,071 households and 3,069 families. The population density was 7 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 62.67 percent white, 36.61 percent African American, 0.07 percent Native American, 0.16 percent Asian, 0.01 percent of residents from the Pacific island area and 0.13 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 0.36 percent were descended from two or more races.
