J. Davis

Jefferson Davis County was formed on March 31, 1906 from parts of Covington County and Lawrence County. It was named after Jefferson Davis , President of the Confederate States of America and thus leader of the southern states in the Civil War .

Four places in the county are listed on the National Register of Historic Places as of February 1, 2018.

According to the 2000 census , Jefferson Davis County had 13,962 people in 5,177 households and 3,768 families. The population density was 13 people per square kilometer.
