Enric Sió

Enric Sió i Guardiola (born April 5, 1942 in Badalona , Spain , † November 2, 1998 in Barcelona , Spain) was a Spanish cartoonist and illustrator .

Live and act

Sió began his comic career in 1960 working for the Bruguera publishing house and the English agency Fleetway. In the second half of the 1960s, Sió Lavinia created 2016 , which was understood as a revolt against Franquism . The critically acclaimed comic Mara from 1970 first appeared in the Italian comic magazine Linus . In 1971 Sió was awarded the Yellow Kid at the Salone Internazionale dei Comics comic festival in Lucca . In the same year he drew a few short stories for Dracula magazine , and in the second half of the 1970s he worked on Histoire de France en Bandes Dessinées . The latter originated outside of Spain, as Sió lived from 1974 to 1979 first in Milan , then in Paris before returning to Barcelona. In the 1980s, Sió increasingly turned to illustration. His attempt as a publisher to establish La Oca in Spain in 1985, a magazine comparable to the Italian Linus , was not very successful.

In November 1998 Sió died of complications from a stroke .
