biography

society

Enrique Sesma began his professional career in 1948 in the service of Club Marte , with whom he won the Mexican championship and the Supercup in 1954 . Because the successful team then fell apart due to significant financial problems of the club, Sesma moved to Deportivo Toluca FC , with whom he won the Copa México in 1956 and was runner-up in the two following years (1957 and 1958). In the 1960/61 season he ended his active career in the service of CF Atlante .

National team

Sesma Ponce de León made his international debut in a World Cup qualifier against Cuba on September 25, 1949 , which was won 3-0. He was not considered for the two subsequent World Cups ( 1950 and 1954 ) and was not used again until 1957, when he played all six World Cup qualifying games in Mexico against the USA (6-0 and 7-2), Canada (3-0 and 2: 0) and Costa Rica (2: 0 and 1: 1). He managed one goal each in the 7: 2 against the USA on April 28, 1957 and in the 2: 0 against Canada on July 3, 1957. In the subsequent Football World Cup in 1958 , he played all three games of the Mexican national team and was thus when Mexico ever won a point at a World Cup when they scored 1-1 against Wales. The preliminary round match against Hungary (0: 4) held on June 15, 1958 was also his departure from the national team.
