Player career

Espanyol and abroad

Enrique de Lucas began his career as a footballer with Espanyol Barcelona . Like many others, he emerged from the Catalans' excellent youth work. After two seasons at Espanyol B, de Lucas played in Espanyol's first team from 1998 to 2002. In 2000, de Lucas won the Copa del Rey with Espanyol after a 2-1 final victory over favored Atlético Madrid . During his time at Espanyol, de Lucas was also loaned to the French first division club Paris Saint-Germain . However, he was only used four times in Ligue 1 . Due to his consistently good performance, Enrique de Lucas was able to recommend himself for the English top team Chelsea London , for which he played in 2002/03.

Return to Spain

In the summer of 2003, de Lucas decided to return to Spain. From fourth in the Premier League he went to the Spanish second division club Deportivo Alavés , which had been relegated the previous year. In the first season (2003/04) the Catalan reached fourth place with his team and only narrowly failed to gain promotion. A year later, Alavés was more lucky in third place. In the 2005/06 season Deportivo Alavés rose in a long-distance duel with Espanyol Barcelona in the Segunda División . Espanyol only scored the goal in stoppage time on the last matchday. During all the years at Alavés, de Lucas was regularly employed.

The last few years

De Lucas remained loyal to his club and went to the 2nd division with Alavés. At the end of the season, there were just three points between the crash in Segunda División B and relegation. In the summer of 2007, de Lucas seized the opportunity and moved to the first division promoted Real Murcia . There he was able to show his qualities and again win a place in the top team. At the end of the 2007/08 season , however, was relegation to the Segunda División. After another year in Murcia, he joined the second division rivals FC Cartagena in the summer of 2009 .
