The ensemble für neue musik zurich is a chamber music ensemble for contemporary music from Zurich .

Founded in 1985, the sextet with the instruments flute , clarinet , violin , cello , piano and drums is dedicated exclusively to contemporary music and has its own series of concerts in Zurich.

One of the special concerns of the ensemble für neue musik zurich is the promotion of young composers from Germany and abroad who are not yet established. Mostly created on behalf of the ensemble and dedicated to it so far (2015) over 300 world premieres. The programs include portraits of composers and others. A. von George Crumb , Liza Lim, Noriko Hisada, Hanspeter Kyburz , Franz Furrer-Münch, Dieter Ammann , Johannes Harneit , Jochen Neurath , Elliott Carter , Isang Yun , Hans-Joachim Hespos , Bruno Stöckli and Lukas Langlotz. However, the sextet will be expanded to include additional instrumentalists and singers as required and was also used for a crossover production by Lucas Niggli .

The ensemble also has a theater department called dieSZENEzürich for modern and contemporary music theater.
