Enterprise Rent-A-Car is a US company headquartered in St. Louis , Missouri and owned by Enterprise Holdings Inc. , which also includes Alamo Rent A Car and National Car Rental .

Enterprise is a car rental company in the United States, Switzerland, Canada, Mexico, South America, United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Greece and China . The company was founded in 1957 by Jack C. Taylor . The chairman is now his son Andrew C. Taylor (as of 2012). The company is privately held and in 2009 was one of the 20 largest non-listed companies in the United States (No. 16) according to Forbes Magazine . Enterprise claims to be the largest car rental company in North America. Enterprise employs around 93,000 people and has annual sales of 19.4 billion US dollars (as of 2015). In addition to its own locations, local car rental companies are available at airports and in important metropolitan areas in the form of franchise agreements and partnerships (including Belgium and Israel). Enterprise Rent-A-Car has been represented in Germany since 1997. In April 2014 there were over 200 German locations with more than 1,000 employees. In 2017 there are over 200 locations in Germany with more than 2,300 employees and a fleet of around 17,000 vehicles. In 2017, Enterprise bought the German car rental company Caro. In Europe, Enterprise is also a sponsor of the UEFA Europa League .
