Endoderm

The endoderm (from Greek to enteron "intestine", actually "the inside" and to derma "skin"), also endoderm , is the inner germ layer of the embryoblast . The endoderm is not to be confused with the endodermis of plants.

The epithelia of the following organs are formed from the endoderm :

• Digestive tract (except the oral cavity , foregut , rectum ) including its glands .
• liver
• pancreas
• Thyroid and parathyroid
• Thymus
• Respiratory tract
• urethra
• part of the epithelia of the genital tract
