From 1949 to 1974 Provenzale worked as a production manager on around twenty productions; including groundbreaking films by Federico Fellini (e.g. Satyricon ; he was friends and hostility with the director for many years) and Luchino Visconti ( The Leopard ). In 1959 he directed his only film, the Mafiadrama Vento del sud .
