Eoferreola is a genus of the wasps (Pompilidae). There are four types in Europe.

features

The species of the genus Eoferreola are medium-sized, strong red and black wasps. The head and thorax have inconspicuous microstructures, the abdomen is smooth. Most of the body is short, tightly tomentose . The front is convex above the antennae . The inner edge of the compound eyes is weakly converging at the bottom. The convex frontal plate ( clypeus ) is short and wide, its apical edge is straight. The forehead plate and the face are short, silky, shiny, brownish tomentose. The labrum is clearly visible below the frontal plate. It has a rounded apical edge. The maxillary palps are shortened. The mandibles have an additional tooth. The metapostnotum is almost completely covered by the metanotum . The propodeum has double-serrated extensions posterolaterally. There are other small appendages in the middle of the back. In the females, the second sternum is slightly concave, the sixth is more or less rounded and slightly elongated. The front wings are tinted brown, but in the males they are almost clear, but they have a brownish band on the wing tip. The pterostigma is small and about as long as the 2rs-m vein. The legs have short spines. The tarsi of the front legs have inconspicuous tarsal crests in the females. All claws are toothed in the females and bifid in the males.

Way of life

The wasps colonize open habitats and forest edges. The larvae are supplied with spiders from the Eresidae family .
