The Erasmi & Carstens GmbH & Co. KG is a merger of the 1845 by Daniel Heinrich Carstens and 1866 by Charlotte Erasmi (widow) in Lübeck company founded. The company became one of the largest manufacturers of Lübeck marzipan .

history

The company initially produced canned food , which found its literary expression in Ludwig Ewers' Die Großvaterstadt (1926) . The canning factory Hüxtertorallee 16 produced until the 1970s. At the end of the 19th century, the production of Lübeck marzipan specialties began. Since the beginning of the 20th century, only marzipan and chocolate products have been made.

The company is a member of the "Association for the Protection of the Guarantee of Origin Lübeck Marzipan eV" (Lübeck Marzipan Association) founded in 1974.

Products

The company sells around 150 products, primarily Lübeck marzipan, as well as some chocolate products filled with hazelnuts and nougat. With a mixture ratio of 90% raw mass and 10% sugar, the company's marzipan meets the criteria for "Lübeck Edelmarzipan".

The company's products are sold under the name CARSTENS - with a representation of the Holsten Gate - and ERASMI with the logo of a stylized cog .

It also produces goods for discount stores , such as Easter magic ( Aldi Süd) or precious marzipan snacks from the Sprengel brand (Aldi Nord).
