The Erastvere Lake ( Estonian Erastvere järv ) is a lake in southeast Estonia on the southwestern edge of the Otepää ridge ( Otepää kõrgustik ).
Erastvere Lake is located about one and a half kilometers southeast of Kanepi in Põlva County . Its area is 16.3 hectares . It is fed by rainwater and some springs on its bottom.
The deepest part of the lake is at 9.7 m in the southwestern part. The average depth is 3.5 m in the north of the lake. The lake flows into the river Ahja (German Aya ).
The banks of the Erastvere lake are mostly of solid ground, the bottom in the lake is sandy in places. The bottom layer of water is oxygen-free. The lake is rich in phytoplankton and zooplankton .
The lake is a popular local recreation area and because of its abundance of fish ( bream , perch , roach , burbot and others) popular with anglers. It is under nature protection. On the south-eastern bank there is a swimming pool with a park.
