The von Arnim's hereditary burial place in the Boitzenburg Palace Park was built according to a design by the Berlin architect Carl Doflein as a burial place for the Counts of Arnim-Boitzenburg in the Boitzenburg Palace Park .

history

Count Adolf von Arnim-Boitzenburg placed the building contract in 1887, but died a few months later. His second wife and widow Countess Helene von Arnim then took care of the construction work, which lasted two years.

Building description

The hereditary burial is made of sandstone in neo-Romanesque style. Two life-size stone lions on the main staircase guard the hereditary burial and establish important visual relationships. While the lion on the left, lying on a pedestal, holds its massive head towards the church, the lion on the right looks towards the castle. This is why the Arnim burial site is also called the lion temple . In the middle of the complex there is an open chapel with colored plastering technology and a mosaic over the altar. In the gable triangle above the keystone of the arched opening rises a mighty, unfortunately badly damaged, sculpture of the blessing Jesus.
