Ercilla is a genus of plants from the pokeweed family(Phytolaccaceae). It consists of two types found in Chile and Peru . The name is derived from the Spanish poet Alonso de Ercilla y Zúñiga , who is considered the founder of Chilean literature.

These are climbing plants that, like ivy, adhere to the ground with adventitious roots . The evergreen, climbing shrubs can reach a height of 20 meters. The leafy shoot axes are hardly branched. The ovoid to elongated leaves reach a length of 2.5 to seven centimeters and a width of two to 5.5 centimeters. The fragrant flowers appear in dense clusters in spring. They are six to seven millimeters in diameter. Its five green tepals show purple edges. Six to ten stamens protrude from the flowers. From the ovary to develop red to purple berries.

In culture, Ercilla volubilis can be seen in botanical gardens. It was introduced into garden culture from Chile as an ornamental plant in 1840.
