Earthquake near Tianshui in Gansu 734

The earthquake near Tianshui in Gansu 734 occurred on March 23, 734 during the time of the Tang Dynasty near Tianshui in Gansu Province , China. The Jiu Tangshu reports in its 8th chapter (juan) of over 40 (.000) dead. Also in one in the Shanyou shike congbian (collection of the stone inscriptions of Shanxi), chap. 7, traditional inscription is reported about it.

Due to the damage caused, it could be estimated that the quake in the epicenter reached the strength of IX on the Mercalli scale . Calculations based on this resulted in a magnitude of ≥7.
