Tianshui ( Chinese  天水 市 , Pinyin Tiānshuǐ Shì ) is the second largest city in the Chinese province of Gansu . The city has an area of ​​14,300 km² and around 3.32 million inhabitants (2016). 544,441 people live in the actual urban settlement area of ​​Tianshui (2010 census).

Tianshui is on the ancient route of the Northern Silk Road on the Wei River . The listed Maijishan Grottoes and the Daoist Jade Spring Temple are on their territory. The kingdom of the Qin, from which the Qin dynasty later emerged, which united the Chinese empire for the first time, comes from this area. Tianshui is also a currently vacant Catholic diocese .
