Jiayuguan ( Chinese 嘉峪关 市 , Pinyin Jiāyùguān Shì ) is a district-free city in the west of the Chinese province of Gansu .
Unlike most prefecture-level cities in China, Jiayuguan has no further subdivisions at the county level. It is a district-free city that was surveyed at the district level. The city lies at an altitude of 1,642 m above sea level and has an area of 2,935 km². It is enclosed in the north, east and west by the administrative area of the district-free city of Jiuquan . Only in the south does it border on the Yugur Sunan Autonomous County , which belongs to the prefecture-level city of Zhangye . Jiayuguan is at the end of a section of the Great Wall of China .
Administrative structure
At the community level, Jiayuguan consists of six street districts and three large communities. These are:
- Shengli street district (胜利 街道), population 28,166 (2000 census)
- Xinhua street district (新华 街道), 16,920 inhabitants (2000 census)
- Wuyi street district (五一 街道), 16,893 inhabitants (2000 census)
- Jianshe Street District (建设 街道), 52,007 inhabitants (2000 census)
- Street district Qianjin (前进 街道), 18,737 inhabitants (2000 census)
- Street district Jingtieshan Kuangqu (镜 铁山 矿区 街道), 3,742 inhabitants (2000 census)
- Xincheng municipality (新 城镇), 7,954 inhabitants (2000 census)
- Large municipality of Yuquan (峪 泉镇), 7,698 inhabitants (2000 census)
- Large municipality of Wenshu (文殊 镇), 7,424 inhabitants (2000 census)
