Architecture and history

The villa was built in 1876 by the reindeer Christian Stange from Bremen . The design of the two-story plastered brick building is based on the appearance of Italian country houses. There are classicist design elements. The villa is covered by a protruding gable roof , which is supported by decorated struts made of truss . At the rear of the building there is a stair tower towering over the villa .

Stange had moved to Wörlitz because of a love affair with a young woman from Wörlitz. In October 1884 Christian Stange was found murdered. His wife's brother was accused of murder and, although he denied the act, sentenced to death. He was beheaded in Coswig (Anhalt) . It was the last execution in the state of Anhalt .

Because of the events, the building is popularly known as the murder villa .
