Andreas Radovan (born in Linz in the 1960s ), also Andy Radovan , is an Austrian guitarist , singer and composer . He composed the music for the cult series Kaisermühlen Blues and works at the Vienna Burgtheater .

life and work

Radovan decided to become a musician at the age of five. When he was ten years old, his family emigrated to South Africa. There he experienced rhythm, inspiration and enthusiasm for music and decided to play the guitar. He was particularly influenced by the South African jazz guitarist Johnny Fourie (1937–2007). At the age of 16 Radovan went to the Berklee College of Music in Boston, in 1978 he moved to Vienna. There was Austropop on the upswing and the young guitarist was working rapidly for well-known groups and soloists: Stefanie Werger , Ludwig Hirsch , Wolfgang Ambros , Falco , substation and VSOP . In 1980 he was hired as guitarist for Leonard Bernstein's Mass at the Vienna State Opera . Together with Georg Gabler he composed and produced the top ten hits "Sysiphus" and "This body is the naked madness" for Alexander Goebel . In the mid-1980s an intensive collaboration began with Rainhard Fendrich , he became a band member, directed Fendrich's live performances from 1987 to 1989 and was also involved in the 2004 and 2006 tours. Radofan worked on 5 Fendrich CDs, including " Macho, Macho " and "I am from Austria".

In 1988 Andreas Radovan released his first solo album: Profession . With the song Another day in paradise he landed a hit and received the award "Album of the year" from Ö3 . In 1989 the follow-up album Naked Heart, produced in South Africa, was released . From 1992 he was responsible for the music for the cult series Kaisermühlen Blues together with Arthur Lauber and also gave it the characteristic guitar sound. Further projects for film and television followed, especially in collaboration with director Reinhard Schwabenitzky , including A Couch for Everyone in 2010 . A long-term collaboration connected him with the Austrian TV show Starmania , he arranged and produced a number of playbacks including Hof Stuff for Christina Stürmer , For me it should rain red roses for Vera Böhnisch or Herz wia a Bergwerk for Felicitas-Zoe Neubersch . In addition, he also took on the sound design for companies and advertising, as well as the musical conception and management of events.

In 2000 he started working at the Vienna Burgtheater - as a guitarist, occasionally as an accordionist and vocalist. Since then he has appeared regularly on Austria's most important spoken theater stage, for example in Reineke Fuchs (2000), Wildes Wetter (2009), The Wizard of Oz (2010), Incidents (director: Andrea Breth , 2011), Around the World in 80 Days (2012), Über'd Häusa und Spatz und Engel (2013), most recently together with Matthias Jakisic in the world premiere of Maja Haderlap's Angel of Forgetting (directed by Georg Schmiedleitner ) at the Akademietheater (2015). Since 2006 he has been composing and producing songs and CDs for the fairy tale summer of Lower Austria, which was then newly founded by Nina Blum . He also works for the Kobersdorf Castle Games and the Lower Austria State Theater , led by the future Salzburg Drama Director Bettina Hering .

Andreas Radovan lives with his wife and four daughters in St. Pölten. His brother Christian Radovan is a jazz trombonist.
