Erechim
Erechim (also Erexim ) is a city (Portuguese: município ) in the north of the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul not far from the border with Santa Catarina .
105,059 inhabitants live in an area of 430.76 km² (2018 estimate). The inhabitants are predominantly of Italian, German, Polish and Jewish descent.
history
In 1908 the first settlers of European descent came to the area of today's city and founded the settlement on the railway line that runs from Rio Grande do Sul to the state of São Paulo . The settlement was initially named a district of the city of Passo Fundo . On April 30, 1918, she was raised to the status of Município .
