The Erfurt housing cooperative Borntal eG , until 1990 workers housing cooperative "Ernst Thälmann" , AWG for short , is a registered cooperative in Erfurt . It was founded on May 12, 1954 in order to provide the employees of the nearby state- owned companies ( Optima , Funkwerk, etc.) with living space.

The building cooperative today has 1,194 cooperative apartments, most of which were built by volunteers in 3 to 4 storey buildings ( old new buildings ) by 1964 and almost all of them were fully modernized by 2005 . Further houses are u. a. on Dahlienstraße, Günterstraße, Eobanstraße, Gustav-Adolf-Straße and Rubianusstraße.
