Erhard Melcher

Erhard Melcher (born November 17, 1939 ) founded the AMG company, today Mercedes-AMG , together with Hans Werner Aufrecht .

Life

Melcher worked in the development department at Mercedes-Benz until the mid-1960s . Together with Hans Werner Aufrecht, he founded the AMG company in an old mill in Burgstall in July 1967 as an engineering office, design and test for the development of racing engines. Melcher later left the company, but continued to work and develop for Aufrecht. The acronym AMG is derived as "A" for Aufrecht, "M" for Melcher and "G", the place where Großaspach was founded. Melcher is considered a proven expert for camshafts in the company .
