Hans-Werner Aufrecht

Hans Werner Aufrecht (born December 28, 1938 in Großaspach ) is the founder of the automobile sport companies AMG and HWA AG .

Up until the mid-1960s, Aufrecht worked in the development department of Mercedes-Benz . Together with Erhard Melcher , he founded the AMG company in 1967 as an engineering office, design and test for the development of racing engines . In 1999 he sold 51% of the AMG shares to the DaimlerChrysler group. In the same year he also founded the company HWA GmbH.

Hans Werner Aufrecht is married and has two daughters. His daughter Pia-Luise Aufrecht is a German show jumper . He himself organizes shows for show jumping and dressage riders in his own riding hall in Affalterbach . Aufrecht has now moved his main residence to Switzerland.

On July 4, 2000, Hans Werner Aufrecht was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit with ribbon .
