Athletic career

Until the summer of 1955, Erhard Redlich played soccer in his hometown Sedlitz, most recently with the company sports community (BSG) Motor in the fourth-class district class of Dresden. In July 1955 he moved to the upper division SC activist Brieske-Senftenberg. Up to December 1955, a transition round with 13 game days was held in the league in order to align the season with the calendar year in the future. The 21-year-old Redlich was immediately accepted into the team of the SC activist and played in eleven transition games. From 1956 the league was carried out as usual with 26 matchdays, and until 1960 Redlich remained a regular player in Brieske as a striker. The 1960 season was his most successful season at SC Aktivist, because he was able to play all 26 point games and was also the top scorer for his team with nine goals. He had previously been included in the GDR national team in 1958 and played one junior and three B internationals until 1961. At the beginning of 1961, the GDR football game was switched back to the summer-spring rhythm, and the league played a season with 39 game days until June 1962. Redlich only missed two league games and also completed 22 of the usual 26 game days in 1962/63. At the end of this season, the SC activist was determined to be relegated, and after the founding of SC Cottbus in the summer of 1963, the football section of the SC activist was incorporated into the Cottbus sports club. Until then, Redlich had played 184 league games for Briesker and scored 37 goals.

Redlich played for SC Cottbus until January 1966 in the second-rate GDR league . Of the 75 league games played, he played 67 games and scored 15 goals. In February 1966, the soccer section was spun off and formed the BSG Energie Cottbus , which took over the SC Cottbus league pitch. By the end of the 1966/67 season, Redlich was still used in 20 GDR league games, and he came to two more goals.
