Eric Robertson

Eric Nathan Robertson (born April 6, 1948 in Edinburgh , Scotland ) is a Canadian composer , organist and pianist .

Life

Robertson studied organ, piano and music theory in Edinburgh with E. Francis Thomas , Eric Reid and William O. Minay . In 1963 he went to Toronto, where he was a student of Charles Peaker (organ) and Samuel Dolin (composition). He also worked as an organist and choirmaster at St John's Lutheran Church and played the organ in the rhythm and blues band Majestics . From 1966 to 1990 he was choirmaster and organist at Humbercrest United Church , then at St. Paul's Anglican Church . In 1978 he became musical director of the CBC television show The Tommy Hunter Show . As a producer he released albums a. a. by Liona Boyd , Moe Koffman , Nana Mouskouri and Roger Whittaker . His own album Magic Melodies was released 1.25 million times internationally.

In addition to choir and organ works - u. a. Four Songs of Remembrance (1983) and Another Spring (1988) for choir and orchestra, Jazz Magnificat for choir and jazz band and Variations on the 'Sussex Carol' for choir and organ - Robertson composed more than 60 film scores and the music for several television series.
