Eric Smith (diplomat)

Eric Norman Smith CMG (born January 28, 1922 - July 29, 2011 ) was a British diplomat .

Life

Eric Smith was sent from 1979 by the Thatcher government as British High Commissioner to the West African Gambia , as the successor to Martin HG Rogers . There his tenure lasted until 1981, he was replaced by David FB Le Breton .

family

Eric Smith was the son of Arthur Sidney David Smith. He married Mary Gillian Horrocks in 1955.
