Erich Biendl

Erich Biendl (born December 19, 1930 - September 29,  2019 in Geiselhöring ) was a German gymnastics trainer .

Life

Biendl did gymnastics for the FTSV Straubing from 1947 . As a trainer, he led the girls of TSV Straubing to win the German youth championship in 1966, he looked after Irmi Krauser , who took part in the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City . In 1968 and 1969 he completed  an apprenticeship as a state-certified gymnastics and sports teacher in Frankfurt am Main . He then worked as a trainer for the Bavarian Gymnastics Association . From 1971, Biendl looked after the German women's gymnastics team and coached them at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich , where eighth place was achieved. In the Olympic Games of Montreal 1976, he coached the female Turnriege the Netherlands . Until 1984 he was represented in the Federal German member of the Artistic Gymnastics Committee. From 1972 to 1993, Biendl held a full-time position at the Bavarian Sports Academy and at the sports center of the Technical University of Munich as a gymnastics teacher. In the 1970s and 1980s he was the head of gymnastics courses, lectures and training camps as well as training for trainers in Austria  . His career as a full-time gymnast came to an end in 1993, but he remained connected to the sport as a coach in the amateur and youth sector. From 1983 to 2010, Biendl and his wife Margarete were responsible for running a gymnastics holiday camp for young people. In 1994 the couple was awarded the youth prize of the district youth association Straubing-Bogen .
