The FTSV Straubing was founded on December 2nd, 1922 in the Ortlerkeller in Straubing . The founding board member was the master carpenter Fritz Moser. The association was banned by the National Socialists in 1933. The re-establishment took place on February 10, 1946. Alois Kolbeck was elected as chairman. The FTSV is now Straubing's association with the largest number of members. With its currently almost 1,400 people, it encompasses both amateur and competitive sports in around 15 departments, including sub-groups.

Departments

The association operates the following departments: Badminton , Fistball , gym , children's gymnastics , artistic gymnastics , athletics , Prellball , swimming , senior sports , cross-country skiing , tennis , trampolining , volleyball and hiking .

volleyball

The volleyball department is one of the most active in the club. The FTSV Straubing has four women's teams in the league (2nd Bundesliga, Bayernliga, Bezirksliga and Bezirksklasse) as well as numerous youth teams in the 2013/14 season. Head of department and head coach is Wolfgang Schellinger. The first women's team has been playing under the name NawaRo Straubing since the 2012/13 season and consists of eleven players. The team has been trained by Andreas Urmann since November 2012.

Trampoline exercise

With five active competitive athletes, the trampoline department is one of the club's smallest. Head coach is Dimitrij Knauer, assistant coach Nina Hiendlmyer. The training and sports facility is the Josefsschule in Straubing.
Greatest sporting successes in 2013 (as of March 29, 2013): Bavarian champion Michael Jurczyk (up to 14 years), Bavarian champion Philipp Wichmann (15–18 years), Bavarian champion Julia Ferien (15–18 years)
