Erich Buchholz (lawyer)

Erich Buchholz (born February 8, 1927 in Berlin ; † December 11, 2020 ) was a German lawyer and author . 1991 was East Germany - criminal lawyer from the Humboldt University of Berlin dismissed and then represented as a defender accused in the wall protecting processes .

Life

Erich Buchholz attended the Luisengymnasium in Berlin from 1933 and passed the Abitur there. Since 1946 he was a member of the SED . From 1948 to 1952 Buchholz studied law at the Humboldt University in Berlin , where he worked as a research assistant. 1956 Buchholz at Humboldt University with the work was The judicial sentencing in the German Democratic Republic to the Dr. jur. PhD . In 1963 he qualified as a professor with the text Theft and its fight in the German Democratic Republic . Since 1957 the lawyer has worked as a lecturer, since 1965 as a professor with teaching assignment, and later as a full professorand head of the Institute for Criminal Law. In 1966 he was appointed Dean of the Law Faculty and in 1976 Director of the Law Section. Buchholz was also the chairman of the legal advisory board at the minister for higher education and technical schools. Since 1952 Buchholz has published articles in magazines and books as well as monographs.

In 1991 he was dismissed from the university as a professor. After 1990, Buchholz was admitted to the bar and appeared as a defense attorney in several wall rifle trials . There he took the position that the killed refugees had "caused their own death" by going into minefields or exposing themselves to gunfire.
