Erich Exel

Erich Exel (born October 25, 1889 in Unterretzbach ; † May 1, 1954 ) was an Austrian lawyer and politician ( ÖVP ). Between 1945 and 1950, Exel was a member of the Viennese state parliament and a member of the municipal council and between 1946 and 1950 he was the city councilor. He wrote numerous papers on home ownership and the creation of free trade zones.

Erich Exel studied law and art history at the University of Vienna and received his doctorate in 1914 for Dr. jur. He completed his legal practice and became a trainee lawyer at Erste Österreichische Sparkasse. Between 1916 and 1918 he did his military service in World War I and then became an authorized signatory of a Dutch import and export company. From 1922 to March 1938, he was executive secretary and syndic of the Union building company . After that, he was self-employed as a building manager. Exel was a supervisory board member of the Union-Baugesellschaft and board member of the International House and the Danube-European Institute.

Exel switched to active politics in 1945 and on December 13, 1945 was sworn in as a member of the Vienna State Parliament and City Council, of which he was a member until August 31, 1950. On February 14, 1946, Exel was also sworn in as a city councilor for urban enterprises, he headed the department until August 31, 1950.

Erich Exel was buried at the Hernals cemetery .
