Erich Geyer

Erich Geyer (born November 7, 1950 in Adelsdorf ) is a former soccer player and soccer coach who spent most of his career in the USA .

Erich Geyer played at a young age for SC Adelsdorf, ASV Herzogenaurach and TSV Höchstadt, before moving to SpVgg Fürth in the 2nd Bundesliga South via the then third-class Bayern division 1. FC Bamberg before the 1976/77 season. He stayed there for four seasons and made 96 games and 11 goals. He then moved to the USA and initially joined the Hartford Hellions. After a year, he moved to the San Diego Sockers in the North American Soccer League (NASL), where he stayed until 1984. There followed a season with the Chicago Sting , then he returned to San Diego .

Trainer

In 1984 Geyer only played twice for San Diego, but was already working there as an assistant coach. After the end of his active playing career, Geyer started as a coach with the Chicago Sting in December 1986 and was released there in February 1988. In 1989 he became an assistant coach with the San Diego Sockers and stayed there until the spring of 1992. He then became head coach at Monterrey La Raza in Mexico. He left the club in 1997 but returned in 1999 and stayed for another season. In August 2002 he took over the team from Harrisburg Heat. In 2004 he moved back to Monterrey , Mexico, where he briefly coached the Monterrey Fury and Monterrey Tigres clubs that year.
