Erich Hofstetter

Erich Hofstetter (born June 30, 1912 in Vienna , † November 29, 1987 ibid) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and union secretary. From 1962 to 1979 he was a member of the National Council .

Hofstetter attended compulsory school and learned the profession of book printer. He continued his education at the advanced training and middle school for workers and worked professionally as a printer and chief secretary in the Austrian Federation of Trade Unions (ÖGB). He was politically active until 1934 as a youth functionary of the socialist youth workers and youth shop steward of the union, after the Second World War he became district secretary of the SPÖ Wien- Penzing and works officer of the SPÖ. He was also federal secretary of the Socialist parliamentary group in the ÖGB and represented the SPÖ from 1959 to 1962 in the Vienna state parliament and municipal council . Thereafter Hofstetter was from December 14, 1962 to June 4, 1979 a member of the National Council. His grave is at the Baumgartner Friedhof (group 39, number 121).
