The Erich Kästner Realschule is a municipal high school opened in 1979 in the Munich district of Hasenbergl . It is named after Erich Kästner .

The school is a sechsstufig bound , rhythmic all-day secondary school for girls and boys. It offers four branches: a natural science with the core subjects mathematics and natural sciences, an economics with the core subject business administration, a linguistic with the core subject French and a creative one with the core subject art. In the 2019/2020 school year, 533 students attended the school. At the Erich Kästner Realschule, around 80% of the students have a migration background .

Educational concept

When the school was founded, the district was poorly developed in terms of infrastructure and was struggling with its bad reputation as a social hotspot . Even if the infrastructure and reputation have improved considerably in the meantime, the district is still characterized by the comparatively low economic capital of its residents. The proportion of students migrating is almost twice as high as the Munich average and four times as high as the Bavarian national average.

The pedagogical concept takes this starting point of the students into account. As a preventive measure, binding parenting talks are already held in class 5 , the explicit aim of which is primarily to establish a relationship of trust and the focus is not on the performance or behavior of the child . All parents, including single parents and those with a migration background, benefit from the intensive relationship work . Diverse active participation is required from all parents, which also includes bringing their talents into school life.

In grades 6, 8 and 10, mandatory student discussions take place three times a year , each lasting 40 minutes. These, too, aim at a trusting relationship between the students and their teachers.

In the mission statement, the strong bond is expressed in the concept of the school family , which includes students, teachers and parents. The individual needs of the students are the focus of educational activities. The mission statement is also the basis of the inclusion practiced . This includes students who, because of their difficulties due to behavior, experience and physical requirements, receive a wide range of individual support and encouragement. The extensive support concept also includes offers for teachers such as B. a collegial case consultation .

Cooperation and sponsorship school

The Erich Kästner-Realschule has a cooperation with the Diakonie Hasenbergl .

The primary school Nyabuko in a hamlet around 20 kilometers outside the Rwandan capital Kigali has been a sponsorship school of the Erich Kästner Realschule since 2012 .
