Erich Kemna

Erich Kemna (born July 6, 1902 in Breslau , † October 22, 1968 in Cologne ) was a German mechanical engineer. He is not to be confused with the son of the same name Julius Kemnas .

Career

After attending the König-Wilhelms-Gymnasium in Breslau, he studied mechanical engineering at the TH Hannover and received his doctorate in engineering. He worked as a designer in the family's own agricultural machinery factory Kemna AG . From 1910 he dealt with road construction. Kemna became director of Demag AG in 1939 , having worked there since 1927.

Kemna joined the NSDAP in 1941 . From January 1942 to June 1943 he was head of department and division of Department III Wi 4 “Special Group Commercial Economy” of the WiStOst with the rank of war administration department chief. From June 1943 to 1945 he temporarily headed the Reich Office for Technical Products. From July 1943 to October 1943 he was deputy head of the main committee “General and Wehrmacht Equipment”. In 1947 Kemna was classified as relieved as part of the denazification in Wetter-Ruhr .

From 1951 to 1963 Erich Kemna was a member of the management board at Demag AG. After a failed candidacy as a member of the Bundestag for the CDU , Kemna was from 1963 chief executive of the German Society for Economic Cooperation and a member of the board of the port construction company .

Erich Kemna died on October 22, 1968 at the age of 66 in Cologne - one year after he had been awarded the Cross of Merit 1st Class of the Federal Republic of Germany.
