from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Erich Klinge (born July 25, 1925 in Wesel , † September 30, 1998 in Koblenz ) was a German lawyer . He is considered the "father of the counseling aid law" and thus the counseling aid .

Life

After finishing school, Erich Klinge initially did military service in World War II . Despite a serious facial injury, he was able to begin studying law at the University of Mainz after the war . He completed his legal traineeship in Koblenz , where he was admitted to the bar in 1955, and where he joined the law firm founded by Franz Adams the Elder in 1826. In the same year he also finished his dissertation with the title "The Organization of Broadcasting as a Legal Problem" and received his doctorate.

In addition to his work as a lawyer, Klinge has volunteered for his profession right from the start. From 1971 to 1991 he was chairman of the Koblenz Bar Association, from 1996 until his death two years later as its honorary chairman. At the federal level, he was a member of the board of the German Lawyers' Association from 1971 to 1991 and its vice-president from 1978 to 1991. In 1978 he was also a co-founder of the Rhineland-Palatinate Lawyers' Association, which he chaired until 1991.

Strengthening the legal profession as a pillar of society has always been particularly important to Klinge. He was convinced that a strong and independent legal profession guarantees effective legal protection for every single citizen, who must therefore have the opportunity to hire a lawyer to represent their interests. For this reason he became chairman of the Advisory Assistance Committee at the German Lawyers' Association in 1978 and, in this role, was the initiator and co-creator of the Advisory Assistance Act , which came into force on January 1st, 1981. His law firm still bears his name to this day. Erich Klinge was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class in 1995. The Koblenz Bar Association awarded him the Justizrat-Dr.-Karl-Weber-Badge .
