Erich Koschny (born June 30, 1846 in Teltow near Berlin, † September 25, 1875 in Striegau (Lower Silesia) [now Polish: Strzegom]) was a German publisher and bookseller.

Life

Koschny spent his childhood and youth in Warsaw and Silesia. After completing his apprenticeship as a bookseller, in 1869 he became an authorized signatory at the "Carl Oppermann book, art and music store" in Goldberg (Mecklenburg) . On July 1, 1872, he acquired L. Heimann-Verlag in Berlin, which he renamed “L. Heimann's Verlag (Erich Koschny) ”continued. In 1874 the company moved to Leipzig, where it existed until January 1, 1882.

In 1873 Koschny married Flora Lommel from Striegau. A son from this marriage died in 1876. He himself died in 1875 at the age of twenty-nine.

Koschny's publishing activity is particularly important in connection with the “ Philosophical Library ”, which he took over when he bought Heimann Verlag and was in charge of it from 1872 to 1875. He also published a “historical-political library”.
