Erich Rabald

Erich Wilhelm Rabald (born January 27, 1899 in Leipzig , † November 14, 1967 in Mannheim ) was a German chemist.

life and work

Rabald studied chemistry in Leipzig, where he received his doctorate in 1923. After almost thirty years in industrial research at Boehringer Mannheim, he was employed as an honorary professor at the University of Karlsruhe in 1954 .

He was best known for the publication of the DECHEMA material sheets, which were later also referred to as the DECHEMA material table or Corrosion Handbook, and which he had published since 1935. Rabald's scientific focus was on questions of materials technology and corrosion in the chemical industry.

At the 26th annual DECHEMA conference in 1951, Rabald was the first to be awarded the DECHEMA medal together with Emil Kirschbaum , Matthias Pier and Bruno Lange .
