Erich Schultze-Gebhardt

Erich Schultze-Gebhardt (* September 2, 1929 ; † September 21, 2014 ) was a German local historian and volunteer home and monument conservationist in Sprockhövel , North Rhine-Westphalia .

Life

Before he became a primary and secondary school teacher, Erich Schultze-Gebhardt initially worked as a farmer and trained as a textile engineer . As early as 1951, he discovered ripple marks in the rock in a quarry near Sprockhövel Weuste-Hobeuken and recognized their geological significance as a relic of a fossil sea bed from the Carboniferous . They are recognized as a high-level geotope .

He was a founding member of the home and history association Sprockhövel, the local Agenda 21 Sprockhövel and the BUND group Sprockhövel. In addition, he initially worked as a local home keeper of the Sprockhövel district of Gennebreck and from the end of 2002 as the official honorary monument protection officer of the city of Sprockhövel. He presented his knowledge of local history on his guided excursions in the Sprockhöveler area, as well as in several local history books and articles.

Erich Schultze-Gebhardt was married to Waldtraut Schultze-Gebhard (* 1933 in Wuppertal - Elberfeld ; † 2010). They lived in the Sprockhövel district of Auf dem Schee , where he set up a private local history museum in his barn and in the garden, in which local history finds from the Sprockhövel area were presented to the public.
