Erich Smodics

Erich Smodics (born February 4, 1941 in Bregenz ) is an Austrian painter and member of the Bregenz Circle .

Live and act

In 1960, Smodics trained as a sculptor and designer for print models and worked as a textile draftsman. In 1964 he merged with Helmut Fetz , Rudolf Zündel and Siegfried Kresser to form the “Bregenz Circle”, which was based on the “Vienna School of Fantastic Realism”. He had his first exhibitions in Bregenz and Vienna in 1966 (Montfort Prize exhibition). From 1970 he worked as a freelance painter, graphic artist and sculptor .

Some of his works are in public collections, including the Albertina Graphic Collection, Vienna; the collection of the Salzgitter Museum, Germany; the collection of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (Foyer Börse Frankfurt); in the Vorarlberg State Museum ; in the Ministry of Education, Vienna; in the Gurlitt Museum , Linz; in the Galerie Zentrum, Vienna; in the gallery Peithner-Liechtenfels, Vienna; Galerie Wiegand, Cologne; Galerie Zentrum, Vienna and in the Museum Haus zum Cavazzen in Lindau .
