Erich Staisch (born April 20, 1927 in Oppeln , † November 3, 2010 in Kiel ) was a German railway historian and non-fiction author for railway transport issues and related areas of knowledge.

Career

Erich Staisch comes from Opole, the Upper Silesian railway junction. He was a third generation railroad worker. After the war he began his career with the railway in Hamburg. At the same time he attended evening high school. He soon became a dispatcher at Hamburg Central Station , a trade instructor for the next generation of railroaders and manager of a train station. In 1965 he helped set up the Hamburg Transport Association (HVV), which at that time was still unprecedented in the world. There, as a graduate (administration) business economist, he took on the tasks of advertising manager and consultant in the PR and marketing area.

Since 1956, Erich Staisch has written 14 books on the subject of transport in addition to specialist articles.

In 1981 he was appointed to the Bundesbahn-Oberamtsrat, retired in 1990 - afterwards he also carried out public relations work at the International Association for Public Transport (UITP), Brussels, at congresses in Berlin, Lausanne, Stockholm, Budapest and Singapore.
