Erich Uhlmann
Erich Uhlmann (born March 7, 1904 in Augsburg , † October 1, 1988 in Ludvika , Sweden) was a German electrical engineer .
After studying at the TH Munich and in Braunschweig with Erwin Otto Marx , he became a development engineer at AEG in Berlin. In 1935 he emigrated to Sweden as a Jew (or husband of a Jew?). Here at ASEA he became an internationally known specialist in the field of basic research on high-voltage direct current transmission (HVDC). He built the first commercial HVDC link between Sweden and Gotland . The IEEE gave him the Uno Lamm Award. In 1974 he received the VDE Ring of Honor.
There was also a dermatologist of the same name.
