The Avaloq Group AG , based in Freienbach, is a software and financial services company . Its core activity is the development and sale of its own software package, the Avaloq Banking Suite, which is currently used by more than 140 banks worldwide. In addition, the company also offers various services in the areas of outsourcing, consulting, maintenance and support.

The Avaloq Group, which emerged from a spin-off from Martin Ebners BZ Group, currently employs around 2,200 people (as of 2015).

history

The company was founded in 1985 in Zurich under the name "BZ Informatik Aktiengesellschaft" as a subsidiary of BZ Bank . In 1991, through a management buy-out , the management of BZ Informatik took over 30 percent of the share capital. In the mid-1990s, the company began developing standard software for banks. The further development led in 2001 to the renaming in "Avaloq Evolution AG" in Zurich under the umbrella of the also renamed "Avaloq Group AG", which is now based in Freienbach. At the same time, the Avaloq Banking System was launched .

In 2002 the group was separated from the BZ Group and the share capital was completely taken over by management and employees. After the company had received various orders abroad in the mid-2000s, Avaloq founded a branch in Luxembourg and Singapore in 2007. This was followed by further branches until 2014, including in Paris, London, Berlin, Rüsselsheim, Leipzig, Hong Kong, and Sydney. In 2011 Avaloq acquired the majority in B-Source SA , a Swiss business process outsourcer in the banking sector. The previous number two in the Swiss banking software industry with a market share of 24 percent (based on the number of banks) was able to acquire three larger cantonal banks in 2008 and thus has a market share of 42 percent among credit institutions with over 500 employees. In 2013, Avaloq was the Swiss market leader in terms of the number of employees at banks that use the Avaloq Banking Suite.

Product development for the software takes place in Zurich and Edinburgh, supported by a support center in Manila. The establishment of new capacities took place primarily at the international locations, above all in Edinburgh.

In 2013 the group expanded its presence in Germany by entering into a cooperation with quirin Bank, acquiring Höll Computer & Software GmbH and founding Avaloq Sourcing (Deutschland) AG based in Berlin.

In 2015 Avaloq went live with its two BPO centers in Germany and Singapore. Avaloq is continuously building new centers for Business Process Outsourcing (BPO).

2017 has US - private equity - investor Warburg Pincus acquired 35% of the shares of Avaloq. In November it was announced that Raiffeisen was also selling its 10% stake to Warburg Pincus and that Avaloq would take over the Arizon joint venture from Raiffeisen at the beginning of 2019. Avaloq and Raiffeisen founded Arizon in order to equip Raiffeisen with a new IT system, which should go into operation in early 2018.

In spring 2019, Accenture announced the purchase of Avaloq banking service provider Orbium .
