Erich Zahn

Erich OK Zahn (born February 24, 1940 in Naumburg (Saale) ) is a German economist and systems scientist. From 1976 to 2008 he held the chair for general business administration, business planning and strategic management at the University of Stuttgart .

Life

Erich Zahn studied business administration (Dipl.-Kfm.) At the University of Mannheim and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) from 1962 to 1967 . At the University of Mannheim tooth was with the dissertation The growth of industrial companies - try his statement using a complex dynamic model in 1970 with Gert von Kortzfleisch Dr. rer. pole. PhD. He then spent a year as an assistant professor in a research group at MIT that published The Limits to Growth , the Club of Rome's first publication , in 1972 .

After his habilitation at the University of Mannheim in 1976 he was until his retirement in March 2008 Professor of Business Administration , Business Management Planning and Strategic Management at the University of Stuttgart with a focus on system dynamics . Together with Péter Horváth , Zahn founded the management consultancy Horváth & Partners in 1981 . From 1979 to 1980 Zahn was Dean of the Faculty of History, Social and Economic Sciences and from 1998 to 2000 Vice Rector for Structure at the University of Stuttgart. He was president of the international System Dynamics Society from 1991 to 1992. During this time he carried out extensive research and teaching assignments in the field of strategic management. The result is over 10 books and around 200 specialist articles.

At the DFG- funded graduate school for advanced manufacturing engineering (GSaME) at the University of Stuttgart , Zahn was director of the research cluster "Networks in Production" and is currently chairman of the board of trustees.

Zahn is currently working as a management consultant. He is also a member of the board of directors and founding dean of the Management Technology faculty at the German University in Cairo (GUC).
