Erik Kross

Erik Kross (born February 5, 1956 in Leipzig ) is a German composer and musician. In his childhood he received piano, church organ and music theory lessons at the music school. After graduating from high school, he studied piano at the Cottbus Conservatory and classical composition in Dresden .

During his studies he was a rock musician in various bands. After his studies he played in the folk groups Folklander and Wacholder . In 1981 he co-founded the Trio Heureka , a chamber orchestra for contemporary music.

Since then, Kross has worked as a freelance artist, from 1987 to 1993 as a lecturer at the "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" University of Music and Theater in Leipzig and at various theaters. Since 2008 he has been head of the musical class at the Plön district music school .

Erik Kross lives in Berlin .
