Commemorative medal for the veterans 1848 and 1849 (Oldenburg)

The commemorative medal for the veterans in 1848 and 1849 was donated on June 4, 1898 by Grand Duke Nikolaus Friedrich Peter von Oldenburg .

It could be awarded to all veterans of the wars of 1848 and 1849 for Schleswig and Holstein who had fought with honor in the Oldenburg troops.

The front of the bronze medal shows the intertwined initials of the founder, which are surmounted by a crown . On the reverse in the middle of 1848 AND 1849 and all around FELDZUEGE IN SCHLESWIG HOLSTEIN .

The ribbon consists of three ponceau red and two dark blue stripes.

The award was worn on the ribbon on the left chest.
