Eriosyce andreaeana is a species of plant in the genus Eriosyce from the cactus family(Cactaceae).
description
Eriosyce andreaeana grows with initially spherical, later cylindrical, dark gray-green shoots and reaches heights of 15 to 18 centimeters with a diameter of 5 to 7 centimeters. Your parting is not thorned. The root is a conical taproot . There are eleven to 14 ribs that are slightly notched. Some of the horn-colored thorns are curved upwards. The four crossed central spines have a thickened base and are 1.9 to 4 centimeters long. The approximately twelve radial spines are radiating, slightly curved and 1.2 to 1.8 centimeters long.
The funnel-shaped, reddish flowers appear from young areoles. They are 3 centimeters long and 3.7 centimeters in diameter. The slightly elongated, 1.3 centimeter long fruits are covered with numerous bristles. They tear open at their base with a lid.
Distribution and systematics
Eriosyce andreaeana is common in the Argentine provinces of La Rioja and San Juan in the foothills of the Andes at altitudes of 1500 to 3000 meters.
It was first described in 1994 by Fred Kattermann . Synonyms are Neochilenia andreaeana Backeb. , Pyrrhocactus andreaeanus (Backeb.) F.Ritter , Neoporteria andreaeana (Backeb.) Donald & GDRowley and Acanthocalycium andreaeanum (Backeb.) Donald .
