Eriosyce omasensis is a species of plant in the genus Eriosyce from the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet was named after the place where it was found near Omas in the Lima province of Peru.

description

Eriosyce omasensis grows with flattened spherical to short cylindrical, bright gray-green shoots and reaches heights of 16.5 to 30 centimeters with diameters of 9.5 to 14 centimeters. The parting is covered with cream-colored wool. There are 13 to 21 ribs (usually there are 16) that are up to 1 centimeter high and tuberous. The one to four central spines are yellowish and 1.9 to 2.2 inches long. The eight to 14 radial spines are 1.2 to 1.9 inches long.

The yellowish green flowers are often open for three to five days. They are up to 2.1 centimeters long and 1.7 centimeters in diameter. The elongated, pink fruits are 1.8 to 2.5 centimeters long.

Distribution and systematics

Eriosyce omasensis is common in the Peruvian regions of Lima (in the south) and Ica . It was first described as Islaya omasensis in 1983 by Carlos Ostolaza and Tino C. Mischler . Carlos Ostolaza placed them in the genus Eriosyce in 1998 .
