action

England 2002: Joshua Mowll inherits his aunt Rebecca MacKenzie's archives. There he finds many interesting documents that put him on the trail of an ancient secret society , whose knowledge is of great importance for all of humanity. Shanghai 1920: The siblings Doug and Rebecca MacKenzie miss their parents, who have been missing in western China for a year . Since they can no longer stay with their aunt Margaret, they travel to their uncle, Captain Fitzroy MacKenzie. From now on they live on his research ship, the travel agent. The crew of the travel agent goes in search of a wreck which may contain a very explosive and rare substance called "Zoridium" or "Daughter of the Sun", as the ship was sunk with this very substance. For zoridium torpedoes, tiny amounts of zoridium are sufficient if one uses a device invented by the inventor Luc Chambois, the "intermolecular force amplifier". The dreaded pirate Cheng-Fat owns such torpedoes. He built them by misusing the knowledge of the scientist Zorid, who had to work for him as a prisoner. Now Cheng-Fat is making the seas unsafe with the torpedoes. Meanwhile, Doug and Rebecca have many questions that the captain does not answer. So they start looking around on the ship and find documents and books that bring them (like the author of the book a long time later) on the trail of a secret society called the Honorable Guild of Specialists (HGS). They also find out that society has something to do with the disappearance of their parents and thus suddenly find themselves on an incredible adventure.
